From March 15th to 24th I went on an adventure up the Western coast of Australia, then out into the Outback and back down to Perth. We covered over 2500 miles with 32 study abroad and exchange students. Overall, it was an incredible 10 days, with all sorts of crazy and funny moments alongside the breathtaking beautiful ones! Even though it is nice to have a nice soft bed, cool weather, no red dirt covered feet, and no ants crawling through my tent at night (or any other scary creature for that matter), I could have stayed traveling forever. There's something incredible about marvelling so many different types of God's creation for 10 days straight, all the while technology and comfort free, making your meals together with amazing new friends. It was definitely a time I will never forget!
We spent our first day driving north along the coast. We stopped for lunch at Jurien Bay Marine Park, then at a World War II memorial in Geraldton. The seagulls in the dome represent those who died in the sinking of an Australian submarine there. We spent the night at a farm in Northampton. It is always entertaining to set up tents with 32 people for the first night of a camping trip. And especially entertaining to attempt to pack up and get on the road by 7am the next morning. However, we did surprisingly well!
